Mice, I have BIG BIG news for you today! You know how we've been worrying and worrying over mother of the bride dresses? You know how we've been unsatisfied by the mother of the bride dress pages basically everywhere? You know how horrible we've been saying it is for our moms to even try to shop for our weddings (unless they lie, like Mama Mouse, and say they need something for a red carpet event*)?
Meet Designerapparel.com, a site that pulls together the best of Nordstrom, Bluefly, Shopbop, Bloomingdales, Nieman Marcus, and Zappos, and presents it to you in an easily searchable website. And oh, what? THEY HAVE A MOTHER OF THE BRIDE PAGE. Yes. They have a collection of fashion-forward, not-old-lady, bomb-a$$ Mother of the Bride Dresses.
And to celebrate this amazing service, they're giving away a $100 Nordstrom Gift Card, which you can use to get your mom her dress, or at least get her started!
Designerapparel.com is basically a style directory, including everything from a floor-length Tadashi Shoji eggplant ballgown marked down to $80 (yep) to smart little Adriana Papell suits to colorful dresses culled from the ranks of bridesmaid offerings but appropriate to mom.
And may I say that it's also a much better way to shop for a rehearsal dinner dress than what I've been doing, which I basically check all of these websites every day waiting for something to go on sale. Here, it's all together. And they have a "more than 50% off" button, for you intrepid shoppers. OH, and they have sale notifications!
Giveaway Rules:
1. Follow Souris Mariage, follow Mouse on Twitter, or e-mail the link to this blog to a couple of friends you think might enjoy it.
2. Visit Designerapparel.com and check out the Mother of the Bride Dresses.
3. Leave a comment here about which dress would be perfect for your mother to wear to your wedding, and why. (Don't forget, your comment has to include how you followed. If you're a follower already, you have to do something new to win!)
This giveaway will be open from September 1-7, 2010. Winner will be chosen by Mouse based on the content of the comment and announced on September 8, 2010. International entries welcome (gift card in this case will be a virtual card code you can redeem at Nordstrom.com). Relatives of Mouse are ineligible to win, which is okay because Mama Mouse has a bomb-a$$ dress of her own already.**
* Dude. Wait till you see her dress.
** I mean, really.

Okay, so I'm really frustrated becaause I saw a dress that could be PERFECT but it's being shown on the Designer Apparel Site in a great wine color and only available on the Nordstrom site in pewter. This is bumming me out.
But there is a great dress I want to get my mom - the chiffon cap sleeved dress from Lord & taylor.
the christain dior 3/4 length dress would be perfect for my mom
My mom loved the Adrianna Papell Illusion Bodice Pleated Dress but felt it was too expensive!
I think my Mom would be fab in the Tasashi Gathered Shirting Gown! It is glam yet sophisticated! Perfect for my stylish elegant Mom.
I follow via google reader!
My mom is wearing this Tadashi Shoji dress to my wedding in purple and she looks AWESOME.

This would be a really great opportunity to win. My mom passed away when I was 15, but her sister, my aunt, has been by my side since... actually since I was born. She never married or had children, is god-mother to me (as well as my 4 siblings), spends all holidays with us, I see her all the time, and that is who I went dress shopping with. She is the only extended family member invited to our small wedding this December and that's mainly bc I don't really think of her as an aunt so much as 2nd mom.
I know she is looking forward to being by my side on my wedding day, and $$ is tight not only for me and the boy, but for her as well. This would be tremendous to be able to give her as a gift from me to her. I know she would love (and look beautiful in) the J Kara Cowl Neck Mock Two Piece Dress - and such a pretty color!
I emailed this to a friend!
My mom is having the most difficult time finding something to wear to my wedding and it's only 45 days away and she's still without an outfit! She's such a fabulous dresser and I'd love to have the chance to help her out.
She's not a dress person and there are some amazing skirt and pants options on here that would really inspire her!
I emailed you to a couple friends who are soon-to-be engaged:)
I'm a long-time follower of your blog. Thank you for this giveaway, Mouse. Mamas are so hard to shop for (and with), simply because everything seems to look *so* sad and matronly with too much coverage. Full length gown AND long-sleeves? Um, NO. My mother has a great body, and, given the chance, I would love to convince her that she would be a knock-out in THIS dress: http://tinyurl.com/2wzanr6
Thanks again! xoxo!
Follower! I think the Tasashi Gathered Shirting Gown would be great.
Now following the blog. The Suzi Chin Maggie Jersey dress would be great for my mom; it will be hot in July!
I'm a follower! I'm going almost the exact same giveaway on my blog, and I'm excited to have a chance to win! I love the lace sheath dress.
My mom has taken a shine to pleated dresses. I think the Adrianna Papell Evening Shutter Pleat Gown would be perfect!
This is fun! My mom is a little conservative and since our wedding is in October, I can see her really liking the Alex Evenings Rhinestone Trim Gown & Jacket.
My mom deserves an awesome dress. I know if we don't win one (or the lottery) she will pull out the old stand by dress that she has worn for every event in the last 20 years. Which may or may not include my first wedding. My mom has provided me with so much since that first mistake that I would love to reward her with a gorgeous new dress. She watches my daughter while I work, has taught me how to meditate and how to balance a checkbook and has offered so much free medical advice (she's a retired Nurse Practitioner) that I could never in a million years repay her. But the Adrianna Papell Flutter Sleeve dress in purple? Well, that's a mighty good start.
Thanks for the opportunity to even have a CHANCE at getting this. I have enjoyed reading your blog and am now following your Twitter as well. That is, once you approve me I am.

My mom has raised me on values to live pretty simply - aside from outfits for grand occasions. Lordy lord, as a kid, I've seen my mom strut down our hallway with dozens,.. hundreds of outfits for weddings and dinners.. Her taste is complicated. First off, must be red. Its good luck! Simple, but unique. A shade that pop, but not too much. Fitting, but age appropriate. Patterns that intrigue, but don't distract. And, on top of it, it must be cheaper than just a "great value" and be absent of any synthetic material. Wowzas. We're going to have a doozy with both her dress and my dress.
I would love to dress my mom up in Kay Unger's Ruffle Collar Belted Skirtsuit. Of course, it wouldn't look so seductive on my mom, but still pretty funky, fresh, and fitting :)
oops! AND, I emailed your blog, of course, to my sister to come up with a good dress for my mumz.
Already following Mouse! :D
Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique Ruched Faux Wrap Dress. Did you see this one? My itty bitty mum would be SO HOTT in this one. Aand guess what!?!! 98 chickens!!
Also may I had that finding something for my mumselle is so hard because so many of the mother of the bride dresses are RUFFLED...and of course my mum abhors ruffles! Yay for a site to pick and choose some NON-ruffled options! :D
My mother passed away years ago when I was only five, but I've gotten really close to my future mother-in-law in the past few years that I've been with my fiance. It's really hard for me to do "mother/daughter" things, since I didn't grow up doing them, but it would be so cool if I could win this and be able to go out shopping with her. We're having a laid-back afternoon wedding, and I really love the Maggy London Print Stretch Cotton Dress in the pink/orange/coral print. It would look absolutely great on her, and I know she would love it.
I follow on Google, and I'm emailing the blog to a couple friends! =)
How does one begin to describe the amazing Mother that I am blessed to have? She has remained strong, fearless, and full of faith in the midst of the tough economic times my family has been going through. My parents have always put their children first. And now more than ever do I see the sacrifices that they make for us each and every single day. Against my wishes, my Mother spent the past year saving up what little money she had to help pay for half of my wedding dress. When I received the phone call that she had finally gathered up enough money my eyes flooded with tears. How lucky am I? My parent's are on the brink of losing it all & yet here they are doing everything they possible can to aid me in this wedding. My parents are my biggest inspiration. My Mother is my hero..
It would be an absolute blessing to be able to help her pay for her dress. It's my big day, but being her only daughter - it's her big day too. And I want her to look and feel like a million bucks in this dress: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3101077?origin=category&resultback=325
Thank you for the opportunity Miss Mouse. I'm sending lots of good vibes your way for your wedding day --------> *********
I sent your post to a friend who I thought might find it useful!
I like the Tadashi Shoji Rosette Taffet Dress for my mom. Unfortunately it seems to be sold out for the time being. But that's ok, because I still have a while to go till my wedding. Hopefully it'll come back in stock. I think it's a flattering silhouette for her.
Oops! Forgot to mention that I'm a follower & shared your link with a friend! ;)
I absolutely adore the "Alex Evenings Lace Sleeve Ruched Dress" the lace is very similar to many bridal styles without being beaded and matronly as my mother says. My mom loves lace because it's sassier than beading :o) Thanks for hosting this great giveaway!

How did I miss this!? I would love to be able to get something pretty for my mama - she's been trying to lose weight after being diagnosed with diabetes, and is kicking butt, though still larger than is easy to shop for.
But, she'd look great in the Alex Evenings Portrait Collar Mesh Dress orrrr the J Kara Floral Embroidered Dress.
(already following, retweeted you!)
Seriously though, mama outfit. I figure we'll do it the week before the wedding. Along with a suit for my dad. That's going to be a fun day.
I am a follower on GFC- I would love the Alex Evenings Off Shoulder Mesh Gown- my mom recently lost alot of weight, so she would look great in it showing off her 'new' body to old friends/family that she hasn't seen in a while. I would be proud to call her the Mother of the Bride in this beautiful dress!

Great giveaway! I'm already a follower.
I went to their site and love this chiffon dress set for my mom. http://www.edressme.com/alyce-29292.html
We're having an outdoor beach wedding and she is having a hard time finding something to wear. I think this would be a great choice for our outdoor wedding, but still formal enough.

I'm already a follower and i just send your link to some friends.
i really like the vertical ruffle dress in midnight blue. i really want to incorporate some blue into my wedding and i guess that could include my mom. i just like how pretty and flowy it is. so many mother of the bride dresses are boxy looking.
i was following you on my RSS, but i've now emailed your link to some other friends! :)
i think my momma would look fantastic in the "Alex Evenings Lace Sleeve Ruched Dress"!
