Jamie is totally right about how hard it is to find good flats. I've been lurking around on Zappos, Nordstrom, Nieman's, and other sundry websites, just waiting for a good pair of flats. Jamie's tutorial on sexy curves was enormously helpful, but it's still dern hard to find good ones. I had thought I was totally sold on wearing bright flats in our wedding colors, but when I tried these ones on with the dress, three unfortunate things happened:

1. When all those bunchies unbunched, these shoes turned out NOT to have sexy curves
2. The bright yellow flats under a floor-length ivory dress did not look cute, nontraditional, and fun, as bright heels do, but rather looked like clown shoes
3. Mama Mouse and ChiMaid* both suddenly confessed to me that they had never really liked these shoes to begin with.

Phooey.

I liked them. I liked how their little toe buckles look exactly like shredded wheat.** But honestly, I'd have preferred to hear that news earlier, before I tried them on in front of the alterations lady. Who now thinks I like clown shoes. And that I'm obsessed with shredded wheat.

Are you guys encountering this hesitation to disagree with you, micies? Mama Mouse and ChiMaid are not usually people to pull punches. Usually they would each say, as I was REACHING for the shoe, "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?" But in this case, they both pretended to like them.

"You guys!" I exclaimed, "Tell me if I'm choosing something awful!"

They looked at each other.

"Um...we did," they say.

Sigh. The shoe hunt continues. This is so complicated that I might have to have shoesdays Tuesdays for awhile.

* Am trying this out. Since I have two maids of honor, they need names. Country Mouse is already Country Mouse. Other maid of honor lives here, so how about ChiMaid? Other ideas?
