Hello, micies! I have another beautiful guest post for you today. I figured that after the oohs and ahhs over a recent headband and cuff bracelet, I needed to get someone to come talk about bridal accessories. Because, let's be honest, I'm not good at accessories. I sometimes feel over-accessorized wearing studs. And mixing? Totally over my head. So here is Noaki from Noaki Jewelry and recent Style Me Pretty fame, to talk to us about bridal baubles.
I was so touched when Mouse asked me to write up a guest post on wedding jewelry. This is such an exciting time to get married, because the old rules just don't apply anymore. You don't need to wear pearl or diamond studs, swarovski crystal chokers or plain pearl bracelets. And it just doesn't matter what style dress you have--A-line, sheath, ball gown. I do custom work with so many brides these days who want mixed metals, something bohemian and rustic or pieces that just pop with color.

As trite as it sounds, it needs to be something that really reflects your personality and something that pulls your whole look or the themes of your wedding together. You don't want your dress to wear you. You are the center of the show and you really do need to wear jewelry that can hold its own with the gorgeous dress that you've spent so much time and energy to find.
I'm a big fan of pulling in colors from your wedding bouquet or themes from your wedding, such as leaves, flowers, or even animals. I did a custom piece once that was an Art Deco-era peacock comb for a jewel-toned wedding, and it was so much fun. I also recently participated in a wedding shoot in which the bride wore large sea foam green earrings that echoed the colors in her bouquet. (Here.)
(Photo by Lindsey Joy, Jewelry by Noaki)I really encourage brides to have fun. Take a step back and take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear chandelier earrings and a cuff bracelet along with a birdcage veil and hairpiece. Your wedding day is one time you can wear all these pieces together and not look overdone. I also have a lot of brides who wear one set of jewelry at the wedding, and then switch one or two pieces out at the reception. For example, once you lose the veil, replace it with a vintage comb.
Personally, what I love best about wedding jewelry is that you can keep wearing it long after the wedding--it becomes such a lovely reminder of your special day. I really do my best to make pieces that aren't too "weddingy" and pieces that you really can wear long after the dress is put away.
Mouse's favorite Noaki pieces here, here, and here. And don't you think those seafoam green earrings could look cool with our teal wedding colors? You can check out Noaki's work on Etsy, here, with many more pieces showcased. They start at only $35. Go, budget, go!

Thank you for this! I am struggling to find the right jewelry. I will definitely be browsing Noaki... and may even inquire about a custom piece!
i'll take the sparkling flower hoops, please.
I bought my bracelet for our wedding day from Noaki. She is a PLEASURE to work with and her pieces are even more beautiful in person. I spent more than I thought I would (80 on a bracelet) but I love it so much, it is totally worth it. I cannot recommend her enough.
