So, check this out, nice mice: we have decided to get hitched in Tucson, Arizona, where He-Mouse grew up and where he still has four living grandparents who can attend the event only if we have it there. (Mouse finds this amazing. She has zero living grandparents and it's been that way for more than twelve years.) So: Tucson. This lends itself to something we wanted anyway--bright colors and a deeply personal wedding. We can play off the locale and He-Mouse's heritage by having a big fiesta. I'm thinking string lights, teal-orange-yellow,* papel picado , He-Mouse's uncle's seven-piece Latin band. But nothing fussy like a bolero or a mermaid/flouncy/flamenco like skirt for me. This would be strictly mod-Mex, combining the cool parts of fiesta with the low key and stylish elements of our real life. And that's what these invitations do. I love the combination of colors (although we might choose teal-orange-yellow if we choose this design). Even more, I love the combination of that classic border and colonial Spanish insignia with the Hatch Show Print-style, letterpress-y typeface. And since these are not actually letterpress, we might be able to get them into our budget. Maybe. The artist, Bridgette over at Earmark Gatherings, is a total genius and a sweetie. She also makes many other awesome invitations and save-the-dates, as well as a particularly great poster which I have posted over at Good Mouse, Bad Mouse. And did I mention that the subtitle of her Etsy shop is "Create Happiness?" I love this. And a shout-out for the Defoe in the background there.
Thoughts on invites, mod-Mex, or fiestas? xo

Mouse, I almost hugged the computer just now. A mod-mex fiesta à la Mouse? Be still, my heart. Love the invites, the band, everything. I can't wait to hear about the food! You are so good at this.
LOVE IT ALL
Done and done.
(p.s. Emily at emilystyle had been working on a wedding somewhat like this for her sister--maybe a good source for checking things out?)
Your wedding already sounds like so much fun! And hooray for BRIGHTS and not pastels :-)
