Hello, little left-hand sparkly thing. Oh, the chaos you have already brought to our lives. Mouse, who is normally suspicious of ritual celebration, is forgetting everything in her calendar and humming really anti-feminist oldies songs about chapels and standing by one's man. Boyfriend* suddenly cares about things like place cards. Okay, well, he cares a little. And various older relatives have phoned to say congratulations and by the way here is What You Do At A Wedding.**So, nice mice, I am starting this whole other blog for this wedding stuff, because I can already tell it is voluminous and consuming and joyful and nerve-wracking. It's over here because, as much as we all love a good wedding photo, I personally believe that weddings should never be inflicted on people, but shared.
I picked out a fancy French frou-frou name*** to denote the difference between this site and Good Mouse, Bad Mouse; this will be a space to talk girly stuff, style stuff. This blog will document the search for A Dress That Does Not Stand Up By Itself. And you guys can help talk sense into me when the people with creepy dollar signs where there eyeballs should be try to convince me to spend money when I don't need to. I hope it can also become a forum in which nobody who answers questions is trying to sell anything, and a space to share your own wedding-planning stories.
Hm, I sound a little stressed out about the whole thing. Maybe so. But I'm also over the moon, dears, and can't wait to tell you more.
Welcome!
xo

*I know, I know. The search for a permanent name for Boyfriend is dragging on. I haven't decided yet.
**For instance, apparently You Do Not Make Invitations Funny to which I say pllbbttt.

So exciting! Completely agreed on the concept of a Dress That Does Not Stand Up By Itself. I think the bridal industry has gotten better at this in the past 5 years or so. 4 years ago when my matron of honor got hitched, she wanted a slim, mermaid-y silhouette, and every store we went to had maybe 1 or 2 dresses like that -- the rest were all big poofy princess dresses with giant stiff crinolines. When I went shopping, there were way more non-crinoline options. So have faith, little Mouse! Your search shall not be in vain! ;-)
Congratulations. BTW, I peeked at your blogroll. You might also want to go read the blog of Accordions and Lace. Like your commenter here, petitechablis, she is a very smart girl who wrote about her wedding planning process with great eloquence. Recently. Congrats again. And I too have no doubts you will find a dress.
Thanks, dears! LPC, I have added Accordions and Lace--I look forward to reading it!
Hee. Go look at my first post. It's basically this.
Yay! I'm here for the party. Let's get it going.
Hooray! I shall enjoy the ride, Mouse - can't wait to see your adventures in the wedding department!
Yay this is going to be so great! A mouse marriage... Beatrix would be so tickled.
I love the fancy French name and A Dress That Does Not Stand Up By Itself was exactly what I searched for. It can be done.
